Our Story...
Her Story
Nicole is (almost) a lawyer in New York. From Chicago, Nicole grew up thinking that everybody's family argued about, uh, everything, at any gathering of two or more people. She went to St. John's University, where she met Mike, tried her hand at newspapering, and like so many others, sold out to go to law school. Nicole then headed down to Texas for 3 years of defrosting, picking up a queso habit in the process. Now, she's back in the northeast corridor where she belongs.

His Story
Mike is a law student at a school just outside of Boston. In Cambridge. Not Tufts. He is the youngest in his very large family, which means he has to hear stories about himself from all 37 cousins who used to babysit. Mike spent 2 years in DC working at the Washington Post Express after college, before shipping back up to Boston for law school. Mike is in his third year at HLS and is focused on getting Ziggy to like him a little more.

The Proposal
New Year's Eve, 9:00 pm. That's about as long as Mike dared to wait before popping the question. After spending a long day teaching Nicole how to ski and trying not to laugh as she would lose control down the bunny slopes, Mike and a Very Sore Nicole headed back to the lovely inn where they were scheduled to have a fancy dinner. Or so she thought. Rather, Mike had a nice "surprise" planned -- pizza and a comfy night in the room. Except Nicole ruined the surprise by suggesting exactly what Mike planned. He had more in store though -- a special delivery of wine and cheese. Except she brought her own. So Mike saw his carefully laid plans blown up one after the other, he decided he couldn't take the risk of waiting until midnight. After eating their dinner and dancing to New Year's Rockin' Eve on the TV, Mike turned on his own tunes. After one of their favorite songs (first person to guess it gets a prize), Mike got down on one knee and popped the question. Nicole was so surprised that a couple minutes later Mike had to remind her to put the ring on! By that point, Mike was just relieved that she didn't bring her own ring, too.
